Frequently asked questions
What is included in the free tier?
Most features, for up to 3 users and 1 GB or 10,000 documents per case. You also get up to 10,000 facts, issues, and entities, 10 custom fields, and 10,000 Auto Review and Auto Rank documents a month. Audio and video transcription needs a paid case. No credit card is required.
How does pricing actually work?
Each case has its own subscription, sized in GB. The first GB is free. After that, storage is billed monthly at graduated rates: $10/GB for GB 2-10, $7/GB for GB 11-50, and $5/GB above 50. A paid case includes unlimited users, 50,000 Auto Review and Auto Rank documents a month for every GB (a 10 GB case gets 500,000), and 1 hour of audio and video transcription. There are no ingestion, processing, hosting, export, or per-document AI fees on top.
What are the limits, and what happens if I reach one?
Every case has three kinds of limit:
- What the case holds: its GB, plus users and records on the free tier. A free case that goes over is restricted straight away. A paid case gets a 72-hour warning first, so you have time to increase the GB. A restricted case stays searchable and exportable, and nothing is ever deleted.
- Auto Review and Auto Rank documents each month: resets on the 1st of every month. A run that needs more documents than you have left won’t start, and you’re never charged an overage. Increase the case’s GB, or wait for the reset.
- Transcription: 1 hour of audio and video per paid case, in total. Recordings beyond that are still stored, just not transcribed.
The case’s billing page shows how much of each limit you’ve used.
How are Auto Review and Auto Rank documents counted?
Each document counts once per run. An Auto Review run counts the documents in the review binder, and an Auto Rank run counts the documents its search finds. Both tools share one monthly limit, and you see the count before you start. Documents a run never reaches, for example because you cancel it, are given back.
Can I load a production from opposing counsel?
Yes. Import Concordance .dat or .csv load files with optional Opticon .opt image cross-references. Litigaze maps columns to fields, links Bates ranges, natives, text, and images, and builds a synced review view automatically.
Is OCR or search an extra charge?
No. OCR runs automatically on every scanned page at no charge, and search (including semantic search) is included in every case, free tier included. Auto Review and Auto Rank are included too, up to the case’s monthly limit. Both are optional. They suggest and rank, and people make every coding decision.
What about very large cases?
Litigaze is built for them. Large matters can run on a dedicated instance: isolated AWS infrastructure sized to your case and review team. Flat-rate pricing is available for cases above 100 GB. Contact us to discuss your matter.
Can contract reviewers or clients get limited access?
Yes. Reviewer-only roles restrict users to reviewing and coding documents. They can’t alter the case, export data, or change productions. Co-counsel and clients can be invited per case with the access level you choose.
Where is my data stored?
On production-grade AWS infrastructure, encrypted in transit and at rest. Documents are reviewed directly in the browser. Nothing is saved to a reviewer's machine unless they explicitly download or export it.
What happens when a case ends?
Archive it. The data is preserved and billing drops by 90%. Auto Review and Auto Rank are paused while a case is archived. You can bring it back whenever you need it, after a short minimum period.
